How do i know if a house has asbestos?
Commonly at Quality Building Inspections we come across what we believe is asbestos. As a rule of thumb most houses built before 1985 will more than likely have asbestos somewhere. A ban was put in place around 1986 and the ban asked that asbestos be no longer used in building and construction however sometimes it was still used illegally.
Asbestos was one of the best manufacturing product on the market at the time because of many reasons but the main reason is that it is fire retardant. Asbestos was commonly used in eaves, switch boards, external wall cladding and fencing.
We have found asbestos in many suburbs but mainly, Salisbury, Paralowie, Valley view and many more. As well as the northern suburbs mentioned above it has been found by us in Kapunda, Williamstown, Lyndoch, Gawler, Evanston, Munno Para, Andrews Farm and Smithfield.
